Considering I’ve seen numerous people ask if this is a joke and actually ask me personally..
The lovely ladies above are not being serious. From what I’ve gathered about both they aren’t one to call out people on things that are personal to them, ie health. They also recognize that you can’t tell a persons health from merely looking at them. Beyond that, health is not a determiner of one’s worth.
The funny thing is that commentary like this on this kind of picture (of a conventionally attractive, SLIM, white male who is doing something that most would consider a potential health threat) is met with confusion. People don’t reblog this kind of thing making rude comments and then try and justify it by saying, ‘OH BUT I CARE ABOUT THEIR HEALTH. ITS NOTHING ABOUT ATTRACTION OR ANYTHING I JUST WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ITS NOT OKAY TO LIKE THIS PICTURE BECAUSE THE SUBJECT IS CLEARLY PUTTING THEIR HEALTH AT RISK!!!111!!##”’. People ignore it, people do not make vast assumptions about his quality of life and if he’s going to die at a young age. People do not go out of their way to reblog ‘potential health threats’, unless its a picture of a fat body.
Seeing a picture like this reblogged with invasive, rude commentary is met with confusion. Seeing a picture of a fat person reblogged with similar commentary is not. Most people who’ve spent enough time on the internet have seen it on numerous occasions, its expected. People either expect it, agree with it to some degree, or are the ones making the commentary. it doesn’t mean that it isn’t repulsive to see, but like I said…its not an uncommon thing. This above, that is.
